This is a call out to anyone playing as a commuication officer.
What 'codes' or 'alerts' do you use?
What specific technology or transmission 'bands' are you using?
Yeah, I'm asking for techno-speak I guess, but hopefully we can have continuity in our trade language.

I did have occasion to use a "Captain's Priority Code" though I never gave an official name to it. In essence it is a code only the Captain or CO can decipher.

On Forrest I've been working more on the technical side of Communications, not big on languages and codes. Just personal I guess, usually just have Casey yell out, "Hey Commander! Ya got a call!" :P

And that's one of the purposes of these departmental forums. When/if you do use some protocol or component, let's keep it uniform from one SIM to the next, so transferring characters or joint missions don't have a whole new learning curve.

Alerts:

I try to stick to 'Tactical alert' rather than the more common 'Red alert'. From what I have gathered, Tactical alert is a bit more canonical for 22nd century. Red alert will be picked up in the 23rd and 24th.

Channels:

I'm still hazy on what to do here. I forget what I had Lt Stingley utter on Challenger, but I've thrown out some greek letters and borrowed some quantum spherical harmonic terms from work. Anything can sound more official with Omicron. ;)

A couple of weeks ago there were some very impressive band designations tossed out in the Forrest Outpost / Meridian joint mission that I thought would be worth adopting. Having said that, I'll have to look them up for posting! :) Rob or TC might be able to beat me to it.
