Biography
Alex and his twin brother Andrew were born in New Berlin, on June 6th, 2132, to Desmond and Andrea Cane. The Canes are known descendants of the augment Hannibal Cane and as such were forced to relocate to the Lunar Colonies shortly after they were established. It was a miracle that any of Hannibal Cane’s 17 sons even survived World War III.
Life on Luna was good until Alex’s mother, Andrea, was killed in a shuttle explosion outside Lunaport. At 13 Alex was forced to watch as his mother’s shuttle caught fire and exploded. Without their mother to watch them the twins were forced to relocate to Earth to live with their father.
Though both the twins were affected by the loss Alex took it very hard and one day turned to violence when a classmate made a comment about his mother. Since Alex knew Karate, Aikido, and Tae Kwon Do at the time he ended up beating the boy into a coma and placing two of his friends in the hospital. Andrew arrived just in time to calm Alex down and get him away from the scene but when the authorities arrive they arrest him. Since the boys were twins no one knew that it was Alex and not Andrew. Alex tried to set the record straight later but Andrew willingly took the blame. In doing so Andrew spends the next 5 years in and out of correctional facilities. To this day the one boy still remains in a coma.
On December 12th, 2149, Desmond Cane is killed in Paris. Alex is taken in by a family in Australia while Andrew is left in a facility in Panama. Since Andrew missed out on his father’s funeral he never forgives Alex. Relations between the twins begin to slowly splinter over the next year and when they turn 18 both of them go their separate ways. Andrew disappears into the stars.
At 18 Alex enlists in the military and from there enters MACO training. After a surprise attack on Earth from the Kzin Alex volunteers for Task Force Kzin. The fighting is fierce but eventually the Kzinti surrender to Earth. The casualties are so high on Kzin that hundreds of MACOs are listed as KIA or MIA without proof, it takes UE Authorities months to sort out the cost of their victory. Officially Alex was labeled KIA but unofficially he was left behind.
Alex spends several years among the stars but eventually news of the Xindi attack on Florida brings him back to Earth and he tries to join Starfleet Academy. Though his initial test scores are high he is refused entry because of his family history and suspicions of further genetic tampering. Alex eventually decides to just join Starfleet as an enlisted Crewman.

Trained in Aikido, Boxing, Capoeira, Fencing, Jeet Kune Do, Judo, Ju-Jitsu, Karate, Kendo, Muay Thai, Savate, Tae Kwon Do, and Wing Chun Kung Fu.
